In common parlance Russians may drop \"-burg\" (-\u0431\u0443\u0440\u0433) as well, leaving only Peter (\u041f\u0438\u0442\u0435\u0440, pronounced as \"Piter\"; IPA: [\u02c8p\u02b2it\u02b2\u026ar]).\nSaint Petersburg was founded by Tsar Peter the Great on 27 [O.S. 16] May 1703.
