The current town name is that of a location in Ireland.\nThe Town of Summerhill is in the southeast corner of the county and is northeast of Ithaca, New York.\nPrior to the American Revolution, this area was part of the territory of the Onondaga (tribe). Afterwards, Summerhill was part of the Central New York Military Tract, land reserved for veterans.
