The population was 1,819 at the 2010 census.\nThe Village of Valatie is in the center of the Town of Kinderhook on US 9.\nValatie is located at 42\u00b024\u203250\u2033N 73\u00b040\u203239\u2033W\ufeff \/ \ufeff42.41389\u00b0N 73.6775\u00b0W\ufeff \/ 42.41389; -73.6775 (42.413847, -73.677533).\nAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 1.3 square miles (3.4\u00a0km), of which, 1.2 square miles (3.1\u00a0km) of it is land and 0.04 square miles (0.10\u00a0km) of it (3.15%) is water.\nIn September 2006 the Village of Valatie celebrated the 150th anniversary of its founding. Two parades and a carnival followed by fireworks marked this milestone.\nAs of the census of 2000, there were 1,712 people, 584 households, and 386 families residing in the village.
