The headquarters for the Quinault Indian Nation was moved to Taholah from the town of Quinault on the shore of Lake Quinault.\nTaholah is located at 47\u00b020\u203244\u2033N 124\u00b017\u203216\u2033W\ufeff \/ \ufeff47.34556\u00b0N 124.28778\u00b0W\ufeff \/ 47.34556; -124.28778 (47.345610, -124.287767).\nThe Quinault River empties into the Pacific Ocean on the northern edge of Taholah.\nAccording to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 2.0\u00a0square miles (5.3\u00a0km\u00b2), of which, 1.7\u00a0square miles (4.4\u00a0km\u00b2) of it is land and 0.3\u00a0square miles (0.9\u00a0km\u00b2) of it (17.16%) is water.\nAs of the census of 2000, there were 824 people, 240 households, and 197 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 485.7 people per square mile (187.1\/km\u00b2).
