The population is approximately 40 people.\nCounty Highway 44 and County Road 547 are two of the main routes in the community.\nThe community is located within the Cloquet Valley State Forest in Saint Louis County. The Superior National Forest is also in the vicinity.\nBrimson has a volunteer fire department, but it only has access to water hauled by truck since there is no public water system.\nThe community of Rollins is near Brimson.\nSettlers began moving into the area when the Duluth, Missabe and Iron Range Railway was completed in 1884. The Brimson depot was later built at the Allen Junction. Brimson was named after its founder, Walter Henry Brimson, an official from the said railroad company. His brother, William George Brimson, has the town of Brimson, Missouri named after him.
