The town is bypassed to the east by the Hume Freeway and the railway line linking the two cities passes through Broadford. Broadford is built on the banks of Sunday Creek, a tributary of the Goulburn River.\nBroadford grew when gold was discovered in Sunday Creek and the Post Office opened on 1 July 1852. The railway arrived in 1872.\nIndustry in Broadford includes a paper mill.
