{"id":11590,"count":1,"description":"Gunpowder, also known since in the late 19th century as black powder, is a mixture of sulfur, charcoal, and potassium nitrate (saltpeter). When the composition is ignited, the sulfur and charcoal act as fuels, while the saltpeter works as an oxidizer. Gunpowder can be made just using potassium nitrate and charcoal, but without the sulfur, the powder is not as strong. The sulfur also makes the powder easier to ignite and lowers the temperature of the burning material. Because of this, gun barrels would not wear as quickly; however, the sulfur formed corrosive compounds on firing. For this reason, guns using it required extra care when cleaning. It burns rapidly, producing a volume of hot gas made up of carbon dioxide, water, and nitrogen, and a solid residue of potassium sulfide. Because of its burning properties and the amount of heat and gas volume that it generates, gunpowder has been widely used as a propellant in firearms and as a pyrotechnic composition in fireworks.\nIn American...","link":"https:\/\/www.skateboarding-lessons.com\/go\/tag\/gunpowder\/","name":"Gunpowder","slug":"gunpowder","taxonomy":"post_tag","meta":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.skateboarding-lessons.com\/go\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags\/11590","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.skateboarding-lessons.com\/go\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.skateboarding-lessons.com\/go\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/taxonomies\/post_tag"}],"wp:post_type":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.skateboarding-lessons.com\/go\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts?tags=11590"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
