{"id":10699,"count":1,"description":"Wyalusing is a borough in Bradford County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 564 at the 2000 census.\nThe history of Wyalusing dates back centuries and was originally known as M'chwihilusing. Before 1750 the settlement was known as Gahontoto and was home to the native American tribe the Tehotachsee. This small tribe would eventually be completely wiped out by the Cayuga tribe. In 1792 the chief of the Cayugas and about 20 other families rebuilt the town. In the 19th century is when the town really began to prosper with Wyalusing becoming a shipping area for logs and other items on the Susquehanna River. In 1820 the construction of the Welles Mill along the Wyalusing Creek made Wyalusing a prime area for people to farm and raise crops. In 1887 Wyalusing officially became a borough of Pennsylvania.
