It is part of the Bloomsburg\u2013Berwick Micropolitan Statistical Area.\nAround the year 1800, the Red Tavern was built along the Old Reading Road, which ran from Catawissa to Reading. In 1865, the then current owner of the Red Tavern laid out a village which he called Montana. When a Post Office was established here in 1897, the name of the town was changed to Aristes, a contraction of the name Aristides, a Greek statesman.\nAristes is located at 40\u00b049\u20328\u2033N 76\u00b020\u203222\u2033W\ufeff \/ \ufeff40.81889\u00b0N 76.33944\u00b0W\ufeff \/ 40.81889; -76.33944 (40.818984, -76.339374).
