The creek drains a watershed of approximately 163 square miles (420\u00a0km) in Snyder and Union counties.\nPenns Creek flows from its headwaters north of Spring Mills to the Susquehanna River, approximately 3.6 miles (5.8\u00a0km) downstream of Selinsgrove.\nA large spring within Penns Cave, a commercial cave that offers guided tours by boat, forms one source for this limestone creek.\nThe upper reaches of Penns Creek offers some of the best trout flyfishing in the Northeast, with a Green Drake hatch occurring in late May that draws large crowds.
