Skateboarding has been designed and influenced by many skateboarders throughout the years. A 2002 report by American Sports Data discovered that there were 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skaters polled who had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of eighteen, and 74 percent were male. Those numbers have have doubled since the time of the study.
