The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to mimic the waves of surfing. Not until the 1970's, the first skatepark was made in Southern California. Next the skateboard boom was about to begin. Many skate parks that were built in the next few years. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, such as Rob Drydek and Shaun White, who have brought it to the main stream.
