The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to take their surfing to the streets. Not until the 1970's, the first skatepark was made in Southern California. Shortly after, the skateboard boom was about to begin. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
