The first skateboarders took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools to mimic the waves of surfing. Many years later, the first skatepark was made in Southern California. Shortly after, the skateboard building boom was about to begin. There were a lot of skate parks that were built in the next dozen years. Now there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, , who have brought it to the main stream.
