A 2002 survey and study by American Sports Data found there are 18.5 million skate boarders in the world. 85 percent of skateboarders polled who had used a skateboard in the previous year were under the age of 18, and 74 % were male. Those numbers have since doubled. In the coming years the skate parks tripled making skateboarding more accessible as privately owned parks and indoor parks are coming into the picture.
