The first skateboarders took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan't good. Many years later, the first concrete skateboard park was made in California. Shortly after, the skateboard boom was about to begin. The popularity of skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
