About
The first skaters took big wooden boards into empty swimming pools so that they would have an activity to do when the surf wan't good. Not until the 1970's, the first concrete skateboard park was made in California. Shortly after, the skateboard building boom was about to begin. It was thousands of skateparks that were built in the next dozen years. Today, there are more than 2,600 skateparks in America. Skateboarding has taken off with the pros, like Tony Hawk, who have brought it to the main stream.
